Construction
1.
Print the template for the embroidery from the PDF folder on the CD. Cut it out and add double sided tape to the back and set aside.
2.
Fold the linen on the diagonal and finger press to find the center of the corner of the pulled thread squares.
3.
Measure 3 ½ - 4 inches from the point created by the drawn threads and draw a dot on the finger pressed line. Use 3 ½ inches if you like the embroidery close to the corner. Use 4 inches if you prefer the embroidery further from the corner. The mark you make is the center mark for the template.
4.
Place the template onto the corner of the linen piece, matching up the center of the template with the dot your marked earlier. Push down the edges so the tape sticks the template down onto the linen.
5.
Hoop the stabilizer alone.
6.
Lightly spray the fabric on the underside with the temporary spray adhesive making sure to completely cover the stitching area using the ttemplate as a guide. Do not over spray.
7.
Lay the linen onto the hoop keeping it centered. Press it down onto the stabilizer.
8.
Place the hoop into your embroidery machine and make any last minute adjustments to center the design.
9.
Remove the template.
11.
If you have a basting option on your embroidery machine, baste the fabric to the stabilizer.
12.
Embroider the design onto the linen using the 75/11 embroidery needle.
13.
Remove the stabilizer from the embroidery, clip the thread.
14.
Cut the piece to 14 x 14 inches following the lines created by the pulled threads.
15.
Iron the piece
16.
Lay the linen on a work surface with the right side facing up.
17.
Lay the lace pieces with header next to the edge of the linen with the right sides down leaving 1/8 inch between the header of the lace and the edge of the fabric. The “tails” of the lace should overlap by 1 inch on each side. (See photo)
18.
Set your sewing machine to a tight zigzag (L=1.5,W=4.0) and install the 75/11 universal needle.
19.
Start about 1/8 in away from the corner and stitch the zigzag. The stitch should go completely over the edge of the fabric and swings back over the header of the lace. This will cause the fabric to roll over the lace edge and make a beautiful finish. (see photo 4)
20.
When you get to the corner, stop about 1/8 inch before the corner.
