Directions
1.
Embroider the cornucopia design on each edge of the runner with the words “Give Thanks” underneath. If you don’t have a large enough hoop, sew the cornucopia and the words separately.
2.
Serge or finish the two long edges of the runner.
3.
Fold 15/8 inch hems on each end toward the right side of the runner and sew a ¼ inch seam each side - don’t worry about the raw edge right now.
4.
Turn the hem so the finished side edges are toward the wrong side. Press the hem in place Sew a ¼ inch hem along the rest of the runner sides.
5.
Sew a seam 1 ½ inch from the bottom of the hem. You will use this seam line to keep your satin stitches straight.
6.
Trim the excess fabric on the raw edges to as close to the sewing line as possible without cutting the stitches.
7.
From the right side, sew a wide satin stitch or zigzag stitch (L=0.06, W=5.0) keeping the line in the center of your stitching.  Make sure you use stabilizer as you sew this stitch. This will enclose the raw edge on the back of the runner into the stitching.
