Linen Edged Towels


This is the time of year that there are lots of weddings. These are a great gift. The linen edge adds a touch of elegance. You can also make them with regular monograms.

Supplies

  or any monogram CD
·
2 hand towels
·
1/3 yard purple linen
·
40 weight rayon embroidery thread various colors
·
white sewing thread
·
Tear-away stabilizer
·
Wash-away “film” stabilizer
·
Temporary spray adhesive.
Instructions
1.
Cut the linen into two 18 x 12 inch pieces.
2.
Cut the band off the towels leaving ½ inch seam allowance for sew on the linen.
3.
Spray the middle of the tear-away stabilizer with the temporary adhesive.
4.
Hoop the tear-away stabilizer. Put the hoop into the embroidery machine.
5.
Lay the towel over the hoop with the wash-away stabilizer and press into place so it sticks.
6.
Lightly spray the wash-away stabilizer and stick it on top of the towel.
7.
Embroider the design.
8.
Repeat steps 3-7 for the other towel.
9.
Sew the linen to the bottom of the towel.
10.
Topstitch two straight rows close together or a decorative stitch along the edge of the linen.
