White Swiss batiste 2 pieces 5 x 12 inches

Swiss batiste, color of your choice, two bias strips 2½ x 24 inches
|
|
Colored batiste cut into four strips 2 at 2 x 11 and two at 2 x 14 inches
|
|
1/3 yard white insertion French cotton lace
|
|
2/3 yard ½ inch colored insertion French cotton lace cut in half
|
|
White lightweight white sewing thread
|
|
Rayon thread in blue, green and pink
|
|
2 spools ecru lightweight thread
|
|
Wash-
|
|
Size 75 universal needle
|

Tear-

Lay the two bias pieces on top on one another.
|

Sew a basting stitch (L=6.0) down the center of the two bias strips lengthwise.

Fold over each piece of bias fabric so the seam runs down the center the the pieces are folded over on top of themselves.

Lay the white insertion lace centered on the seam. To test that you have this correctly placed, tun the piece over and pull the seam slightly open. You should be able to see the lace between the stitches.

Sew the lace to one layer of bias one side at a time using a tiny zigzag stitch (L=2.0, W=1.5).
