Duffle Bag
The directions here are for a tailored heavyweight bag, but, you can use any fabric. You may make it with or without a pocket. If the fabric is really light, you may want to line it. Also, to make it feminine, use lace instead of piping. You can make your own straps instead of using the webbing. Have fun!
Supplies
"
1 yard fabric (canvas or denim are good choices)
"
18 inch zipper
"
3 ½ yards of 1 inch webbing (for the strap)
"
1 package of piping

Directions
1.
From the fabric cut two 12 ½ inch circles (you can use a plate for a template) and one rectangle that is 19 ½ by 35 inches. Cut one piece 9 x 7 inches for the pocket (optional). The 9 inches is the width and the 7 inches is the height.
2.
If you are going to have a pocket, embroider a design of your choice or monogram onto the center of the pocket. Alternately you can add a purchased applique or just leave it blank. The 9 inches is the width and the 7 inches is the height. The embroidery design should be centered in the bottom 6 inches of the piece.
3.
If you are not having a pocket, embroider a design that is at least 10 inches from the top of one of the 19 ス inch sides and at least 6 inches from each side of the 35 in side. You can embroidery on the other end of this piece if you want embroidery on both sides of the finished piece.
